Key Accomplishments

My years at itraffic, Games Media Properties and the New Republic were formative in terms of teaching me how to think about business--but it wasn't until 2007 (after I got my MBA) that I gravitated to the world of startups. My interest in social media led me to KickApps where I ran day-to-day marketing operations for two years. That was also where I met the founders of Admeld, who were incubated at the KickApps office space. At Admeld, where I was employee #19, I ran all marketing and PR efforts for three years, culminating in the company’s purchase by Google in December 2011. At sale we had 120 employees and offices on three continents. I'm now at Google run marketing for The DoubleClick Ad Exchange Platform and the Admeld Platform.

How I like to work with people As a Cofounder

At Admeld I was part of a core executive team that took the company from 3rd place 'also-ran' to the clear market leader. Crafting a differentiated brand is never easy, but it’s especially challenging in the ad tech space, which is as crowded and noisy as any other. Throughout the process, I learned that there are no shortcuts to success. The best brands gain credibility and attention not by “making noise” or talking about themselves, but by focusing doggedly on their clients and by making substantive contributions to the broader conversations in the industry. As a co-founder, one of my chief goals will be to challenge my company to infuse an authentic tone and approach to everything it does.

Lastly (and this is important for any company that intends to successfully navigate towards an exit): I was deeply involved with the due diligence process as Google evaluated Admeld, as well as the governmental process to get the acquisition approved. In addition to teaching me a great deal about the acquisition process, these experiences reinforced my thinking about how a company should be built, and how it should conduct itself on a daily basis in order to successfully endure this kind of scrutiny when the time comes.
