You Should Know About Me

Key Strengths

Key Accomplishments

I hold several US Patents for ASIC design and computing technologies, and I've started a number of companies in the past. I've run product design teams doing PCB engineering and software development, and dealt with technologies from 8051 micro controllers running POTS Telecommunications on modems (V.8bis), very high speed PCB design with 12Gbps Serial Attached SCSI (SAS/SCSI), and multi-million gate ASICs RTL, synthesis, timing and physical layout with RS6000 processor cores. On the software side I develop for RTOS, Linux/Unix and BSD/OS X at application level and device-drivers and even written EFI boot loaders.

I'm very comfortable working with technical and non-technical customers to define, scope, bid and manage technical sales contracts, and even do a only-half-bad impression of a marketer. In the past I've been a speaker, panelist, and presenter at conferences ranging in size from niche-focused ATCA, to the massive Embedded Systems Conference (SFO). I enjoy creating and running training classes and workshops for partners and clients, and I have even been asked to present new technologies to college faculty.

How I like to work with people As a Cofounder

I've had success working with folks who share my product passions, particularly when there is a tangible deliverable we can dissect as partners into technical and business areas. I have worked both the hands-on engineering part of new product development, and the door-knocking, cold-calling, beat the street to find customers side, so I'm open to taking either role depending on the skills of prospective partners.

As an Advisor

I am best at early stage idea validation and feasibility, although I can help any early stage or mid-stage venture to define and build products. I also have experience in a fundraising and early company leadership role, although I can likely help best here as part of an integrated team of advisors rather than trying to cover too much ground.

I can also help companies working to adopt agile methodologies and rapid-prototyping, I own and use a 3D printer for mechanical fitting exercises, and I have build prototypes on BeagleBone, Arduino, RPi, Intel Edison, and custom made PCBs. If your idea has a hardware component, and you need to get to a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for demonstration or even field trials, I can help.
