You Should Know About Me

Key Strengths

Key Accomplishments

I've built my solo practice from scratch; and never worked a single day in a traditional law firm. Instead, I earned all my legal experience through working with independent entrepreneurs and startups from day one.

I'm an engineer who thinks like a lawyer, and a lawyer who thinks like a pirate: I get the work done legally, ethically, within the constraints of the limited resources given: sometimes you just have to hack things to get work done.

I know what I don't know, and I don't bite more than I can chew.

How I like to work with people As a Cofounder

I like to work as a team. Specifically, I'm the go-to legal guy to solve and answer your legal questions. My expertise is IP, but I have enough general counseling experience that I can find someone who can fit the job and refer them at an affordable rate.

If I were an avenger, I would be Captain America: probably an almost super-human specimen working alongside gods, robots, and super beasts, but I know how to make a play work on a given situation.

As an Advisor

I am a patent lawyer dedicated to providing complete legal services for first time inventors and small businesses. I work from both San Francisco Bay Area and Davis, California, serving mostly individual clients and small companies.

My area of expertise includes IP strategy for first time inventors and small start-ups, patent searching, patent prosecution, trademark search and registration, and licensing of industrial designs and entertainment products, as well as counseling about business on the Internet and privacy compliance.

My services are tailored towards clients who take a proactive approach to their IP issues by spending time to understand the IP process. With my legal experience, I engage with clients by providing them with comprehensive insights into IP strategy. I provide my clients with a better chance of succeeding as they become better business people and entrepreneurs.

I also try to help clients who are being unfairly abused by the legal system. Bullies can come in many different forms - patent trolls, trademark oppositions, unreasonable demand letters, unfair contracts, and many more. If you feel you've been wronged in life, at work, or anywhere else, contact me and I'll do my best to help you out. If I cannot take your case for any reason, at the very least I will point you in the right direction as a courtesy and refer you to someone who might be able to help you out.

Ken Marshall
We worked together  •  Founder, Cross-Sector Health, FoodCare.com. Previously at Accenture, Deloitte Consulting, Appregatta. Sales, Marketing, Coding (Rails)
Michael is a top-notch patent attorney, but he's really a strategist and business partner. He has tremendous integrity, and he dives into hi ... s clients projects all the way. He performs extensive market research to identify prior patent filings that are relevant to your business, and then his insights actually lead to changes/adjustments to core business strategy, not just IP strategy. He's easy to work with and totally reliable. Finally, his work products are of a very high caliber.
Alan Huynh
They're my friends  •  Business Operations Coordinator/ Unit Business Officer, UC Davis. Previously Business Operations Assistant, UC Davis.
Michael studied Engineering and Physics as an undergraduate, but went into IP and Patent Law as a law graduate student. Despite the apparent ... disconnect between those two fields of study, he took advantage of his undergraduate background in researching patents to help and advise budding inventors now, Michael has own practice which seeks to innovate the field of law practice. Michael seeks to restore the core principal of legal counsel -- that the lawyer is an advocate for their client, and that the best way to be an advocate is to carefully nurture, develop and cultivate the attorney-client relationship for the good of both parties.
Fred Schechter
We worked together  •  Designer, TGiF Design and Advisor, Autosport Labs.
Michael provides thorough work as a patent attorney and is always looking to provide more value. His opinions are always timely and actiona ... ble. More than that he's a pleasure to work with.
Austin McLeod
We worked together  •  Intellectual Property Intern, The Law Offices of Michael Indrajana.
Michael is professional and tries to help clients coming from all walks of life and stages within their current funding parameters. He work ... s hard and isn't afraid to take the extra step to have a job well done.

Michael is an incredibly skilled and intelligent attorney, particularly with respect to IP law. He has an extraordinary ability to learn abo ... ut new technologies in great detail, and to develop comprehensive IP strategies. Finally, he has tremendous personal integrity and professional ethics and is incredibly reliable and responsible.

Alan Huynh
They're my friends  •  Business Operations Coordinator/ Unit Business Officer, UC Davis. Previously Business Operations Assistant, UC Davis.
Alan would be a great entrepreneur because he is a natural problem solver: see a problem, solve the problem, move along to the next problem. ... Efficient, clever, and resourceful.

Fred Schechter
We worked together  •  Designer, TGiF Design and Advisor, Autosport Labs.
Fred has 18 years of experience in product design. He has a few successful Kickstarter campaigns under his belt, and a sharp business instin ... ct. He's also a very down to earth guy, and has a great sense of humor while keeping an impressive professionalism in his dealings and his workmanship. I think Fred is a great advisor for new entrepreneurs looking to launch innovative, design driven products into the marketplace.

Andrey Shostak
They're my mentor  •  Proprietor, Shostak Patents. Previously Patent Agent, ipCreate Inc.. University of California, Davis grad.
Andrey is a patent practitioner and a self made entrepreneur. As a fellow solo practitioner, I can say from experience that solo practitione ... rs are lawyers who think like entrepreneurs, because we are entrepreneurs ourselves. Andrey is no exception, and I believe he is a valuable addition to any startup team who looks for insightful patent strategies and an experienced prosecution specialist.

Kristian Widjaja
We worked together  •  Founder and President, Jonajo Consulting LLC. Georgia Institute of Technology grad. Stanford grad.
Kristian has a lot of fantastic experience with over 15 years of experience in the silicon valley tech industry. His educational and work ex ... perience shows a great pedigree, and his personality is friendly while at the same time has the no-nonsense and analytical approach to any challenge he faces. I am happy to vouch for Kristian, and would gladly recommend him to anyone who needs good people in their team.
