You Should Know About Me

Key Accomplishments

I am a serial entrepreneur, author, public speaker, lawyer and professional mentor. I work with the CEOs and their teams of startups and fast growth tech companies. My focus is on commercialization strategy and finance. The companies which I work with range from medtech, cleantech, software (games, apps, B2B, B2C, etc) and hardware. In 2014 I was the runner up Ontario Mentor of the Year, Startup Canada Awards. I am also the 2015 chair of TiEQuest, Canada's largest startup competition.

How I like to work with people As a Cofounder

I typically work on a monthly fixed fee monthly retainer basis. I prefer to work on a fixed mandate for a fixed period of time at a fixed fee. I refer to this as my "all you can eat model".

My firm Fasken Martineau offers its Startup Program as a SAAS based model as a legal startup kit. For a low monthly our Startup Program clients receive the following:
includes the following benefits:
• Incorporation and organization of a corporation OR registration of a trade-mark in Canada, subject to certain exclusions
• Access to templates, such as intellectual property (IP) assignments and non-disclosure agreements
• Kick-off meeting to implement an IP strategy and Fasken Martineau’s unique IP management structure
• 2 hours of consultation per month (legal drafting not included)
• Access to Fasken Martineau’s Start-up Community
• 10% discount on hourly rates for other services (patents, shareholders, agreement, licenses, etc.)

For issues not included in the Startup Program, we endeavour of offer solutions on a fixed price basis. We layer on solutions such as shareholder agreements, website terms of use and privacy policy, employment contracts, etc. We also can provide advice with respect to intellectual property issues.
