We worked together  •  Founder & CEO, USL Technology. Previously Sr. System/Network Administrator, Privatel Inc. Columbia University in the City of New York grad.
For sure. In our early stages, Aarabi was instrumental in providing my firm, USL Technology, clear business strategies that helped reach our ... target clients. She asked the right questions that really helped craft the message we needed to build our brand as a company. Her expertise allowed us to not only reach our clients, but also developed financial projections based on a three-year growth plan. She provided advice through the proposal process of acquiring our first two clients as well. She's passionate about her work and definitely has the "go getter" drive that is relatable as an entrepreneur.

Over the last two years, Aarabi has been a close, trusted advisor to me on my startup, Sistine Solar. As a first-time entrepreneur building ... a hardware business, I often have to make challenging decisions in uncertain environments with limited or no information. Almost always, I turn to Aarabi for guidance because she brings in clarity of thought, decisiveness, and actionable recommendations. Equally importantly, she conveys these to me in a way that is constructive and confidence-enhancing. Let me share a couple of examples to illustrate these qualities. A few months ago, we had the opportunity to present to a potential customer, a large, world-leading company. The hardest thing for me as a founder is securing a paying customer. Aarabi helped me strategize the best way to position our product offering, how to communicate it strongly, and how to pro-actively chart out the next steps and milestones following that. She has powerful instincts for what exactly motivates each of the different stakeholders in a business (engineering, R&D, marketing, purchasing, finance, etc.) and how to tailor the pitch to each accordingly. Her recommendations worked very well for me and helped Sistine Solar achieve success - over the past few months, this company has become our beta customer, we have a letter of intent for purchase from them, and are developing our product for a project with them which will see our first dollar of revenue! The other aspect I worry about a lot as a founder is building and retaining the right team around me. Time and again, Aarabi has given me excellent advice on how to manage great talent. For instance, I once had to go through a difficult conversation with a close teammate about the strategic direction of the company where we both had different views. Aarabi helped me to step back and consider the bigger picture, see the underlying concerns my teammate had, and accordingly articulate my own views in a way that eventually led to a strong middle ground. So strong, in fact, that my working relationship with my teammate became even closer as a result of that challenging conversation. Aarabi possesses not only strong negotiation skills, but also the empathy and clarity of thought required to advance towards a middle ground. I will continue to turn to Aarabi at every critical juncture that my startup goes through. Because she is responsive, thoughtful, and as opposed to offering vague general advice, always gives me specific, actionable tips that I can implement right away. She is also someone who leads me by example - her ability to mentor and coach me, to offer me candid and constructive feedback, and to push me outside my comfort zone to improve my skills, are also attributes I try to emulate in managing and mentoring my teammates. Aarabi has the innate ability to thrive in a startup environment - I recommend her enthusiastically to be a founder of or an advisor to startups!
