You Should Know About Me

Key Accomplishments

I'm very versatile. I set that as a mission early on in my life, and my CV now reflects it.

I've worked as a full-stacker web developer. I also was a consultant at McKinsey & Co advising fortune 500 companies for 6 years. I also trained as a medical doctor (Harvard) and did a PhD (MIT) where we discovered drugs that enhance learning and memory. I bring a tremendous amount of business experience and skills, and versatility to any project I take on. I can be CEO, CTO and COO, but love having partners to build things together.

I've co-founded several companies in biotech and tech, and now advise several early stage companies, a VC and a PE fund.

I've now started a for-profit tech company with social mission. We're applying the best of McKinsey's insights to transform the non-profit sector, and have gotten excellent traction so far with individuals and organizations. The prototype web app is launched (www.herowatcher.org), and there's a very logical set of revenue streams based on social media marketing and fund-raising benefits for NGOs and Brands. I'm looking for an exceptional tech leader who can OWN the tech side, or a hard-charging BD guy who can OWN our partnerships with NGOs and Brands. I can run whichever other side.

You can be a co-founded of the company (as opposed to an early employee) if you add real value.

How I like to work with people As a Cofounder

I love working with partners when building things. Some reasons:
+ Keep each other accountable (and not drop the ball)
+ Keep morale up when things don't go perfectly - keep a level head when things are going really well
+ Complimentary skills
+ Double or triple or quadruple the productivity
+ It's just a lot more fun

How we work together is meant to be co-created. I can have formal schedules, or work more fluidly. Overall, I'd like my partner to own a distinct part of the work, help each other out but also have clear separately accountability and deliverables. This motivates me most powerfully to deliver.

Safa's skills are very rare. Simply put, he always seems to have the right answer for the most complex problems that arise. He also has a g ... reat ability to channel his communications effectively, no matter who the audience is. I have worked with him for several years on a startup and he has been a large part of our success.
Fernando Torres Figueiredo
We worked together  •  Co-Founder, Redpanda Social Apps. Founder, Accedo interactive Agency. Formerly: Co-Founder, Youclient.
Safa's one of the most interesting brains i've worked with. He's ability to go across different sides of a problem along with a very extensi ... ve background makes him an excellent strategic manager. I also believe that is professional will and commitment with his projects make him a doer and high profile entrepreneur.
Ron Shigeta
Co-Founder, Berkeley BioLabs Co-Founder, Biomatica; Manager, NetAffx Bioinformatics Team. PhD Princeton.
Safa has always been an independent and forward looking thinker. While his resume tends to speak for itself, its perhaps useful to say that ... it will be hard to find someone with the breadth of experience, exposure to healthcare on every level of the industry as well as the ability to charm money from a stone.

Having a conversation with Safa can be an extraordinary growth and learning experience - particularly when it comes to problem solving. His ... attitude is always collaborative and seeks the solutions where everyone in the room reacts, "that's it!"
