You Should Know About Me

Key Strengths

Product management • Program Management • Agile development • Strategy • Team Building • Kaizen • Technical Writing • Software project management

Key Accomplishments

I thrive on new--learning new things, building new skills, creating. Growing up, I thought I wanted to be a physicist or chemist, but my time freelancing through high school and college showed me that I needed to be in tech. I was building a tool for a welding manufacturer to calculate costing on their products and more efficiently use their materials. When I met with my client, I had to cross through a hot, dirty, dangerous factory floor. On one of these walks in, I realized that my normal princess self wouldn't do that unless it was for something I loved. I changed my major shortly thereafter from Physics to MIS.

Ever since, I've chosen education and work opportunities to build out my capabilities. I've worn a lot more hats than my titles show. I've been a developer, tech lead, solutions architect, BA, QA, PMI style project manager, scrum master, agile coach, product owner, and product manager. I've taken teams full of people that were close to getting the ax and built them into the teams that the other teams asked for advice. I've been an individual contributer, and I've managed long term projects with huge numbers of people (one project was 18 months in duration with 180 employees). I've literally worked on a project that was being protested--including by some of the people working on it.

About eighteen months ago, I was trying to figure out my next steps in my career. I pulled out all my grad school tools and analyzed myself as a product--right down to a SWOT analysis. I also analyzed every major project of my career for success or failure and the key driver behind that outcome. I learned so much about myself and my work. Some clear patterns: repeated success taking over when things are going badly or when someone tells me it's impossible and repeated success coaching high potential people with needs to grow in working with others. I also learned that I'm a gap filler. This can spell your doom in corporate America. If an organization is open to it, it can be amazing. I think it's a perfect fit for startups. Everyone needs to be a gap filler when you start with nothing more than gaps.

How I like to work with people As a Cofounder

When I work with people, I like to bond over doing great work. I still like to have fun with the people that I work with--happy hours, joking around, getting to know about each other's families, etc. But, to me the core of a great working relationship is doing great work together and trust in each other.

Keith Coniglio
We worked together  •  Technical Writer, Exelis Visual Information Solutions.
Sarah has an endless well of passion for whatever she chooses to pursue, matched and balanced by a pragmatic streak of common sense and obje ... ctivity. She is equally comfortable performing 10,000-foot strategic analysis and being in the trenches, getting the grunt work done. She takes the time to understand her market and knows how to balance ambition with realism in the solutions she offers. I'd be thrilled to work on any project with - or for - her.
Nathan Neulinger

This is all supported by a strong base of intelligence and confidence. Sarah has a vision and does what it takes to plan it and make it happen.
