Key Accomplishments

Lansie Sylvia is a tornado of sparkles, curls, and great ideas specializing in community activation, engagement, and social responsibility. She's been hailed as "a ball of energy with a hell of a laugh" and "a national treasure" by her past collaborators. Her favorite things to do are solve problems and improve company culture using collaboration, Post-It notes, and human-centered design.

As Director of Engagement for Here's My Chance, she leads the agency's external communication strategy, works with clients on communication projects, and builds new community partnerships. She currently serves as HMC's Project Director for Next Stop: Democracy!, a public art project improving Philadelphians' voting experience funded by the Knight Cities Challenge via the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Lansie is also the founder of Philly Give & Get, a volunteer-run organization that promotes local nonprofit partners and has raised more than $20,000 to support them via live-auction events. For her work with G&G, she was selected as a 2013 Social Impact Fellow by the University of Pennsylvania and a grant recipient at the 2013 ReGenerate Philly Summit.

Lansie is an award-winning storyteller and frequently presents to groups and businesses. Since 2010, she has held director-level positions in a variety of Philadelphia-based organizations, most recently at the EHL Consulting Group and the Philadelphia Film Society. Before receiving her M.S. in Nonprofit Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice, Lansie completed an AmeriCorps Year of Service in Providence, Rhode Island.

How I like to work with people As a Cofounder

Collaboratively, with a clear chain of command and tons of group accountability.

As an Advisor

I prefer to start off with a one-hour consultation to determine if the partnership is a good fit, plus establish overarching goals and a timeline. This consultation can be conducted either in-person (my preference) or by phone, whichever is best for my client. I also include an additional 30-minute review of any materials they'd like to send me prior to our meeting. That way I'm able to come into the conversation well-informed and ready to hit the ground running!

Lansie has a ton of energy, drive, and focus; she's not only constantly learning and listening, but also constantly finding ways to make con ... nections between the people she meets who are doing great things. There's nothing that makes her happier than sharing what she knows (which is quite a lot!), and bringing people together to put that information to work in the real world. She has built a deserved reputation for herself, for sure, but more than that, she has created community where there was none, and she has managed to orchestrate collective focus toward impact. Creative and patient, she's an ideal advisor, and I am proud not just to have worked and learned alongside her, but to call her my friend.

Lansie is enthusiastic, professional, and skilled. She has a fierce work ethic and has been a supportive advisor to me throughout my many ro ... les in the field of education and social justice. She knows what questions to ask to take a project from a dream to a reality. She is someone that everyone wants on their team.

I first met Lansie a few years ago when she hosted nonprofit roundtable discussions for small groups. She's thoughtful, intelligent, and has ... an ease when speaking to groups both large and small that radiates confidence. My favorite part of working with her on a branding & communications project was watching our skeptical Board members change their tune after hearing her speak. It was incredibly difficult to choose just three areas where Lansie is most helpful, as it seems that she can provide guidance on just about any area within nonprofits, marketing, communications, and social engagement that I can throw at her. Having attended many events coordinated by Lansie, worked with her directly as a client, and watched from afar as she coordinated a large scale advocacy campaign (Next Stop: Democracy, check it out!), I can say with complete confidence that she is one of my absolute favorite people in Philadelphia. I never pass up an opportunity to pick her brain and I always walk away energized and ready to tackle whatever problem she's provided advice on.

Lansie Sylvia is all her reputation suggests, plus approachable, authentic, forthcoming with advice and full of ingenious ideas. Any individ ... ual or organization who values these qualities will find her guidance absolutely invaluable. I’ve experienced firsthand her ability to deliver precise external communication strategies, render creative communication projects, and quickly grow new community partnerships. Although, she has an abundance of expertise in the non-profit arena; her large network encompasses various sectors in the Philadelphia area and beyond. Above all her unparalleled work ethic, wealth of knowledge and infectious enthusiasm make Lansie a pleasure to work with and a reliable advisor.

Arielle has always struck me as Zen-like in her professional capabilities - she is thoughtful, unflappable, and has deep reserves of knowled ... ge, skill, and poise. Equally comfortable in a room of nervous freshman-year Penn kids as she is in front of billionaire philanthropists, Arielle is one of the kindest and most emotionally intelligent people I've ever met. She has saved my butt more times that I can count and I am incredibly lucky to have her as a project partner, fellow do-gooder, and friend. She is a communication maven and a whiz with the written word. You'd be crazy not to want her on your team!
