You Should Know About Me

Key Accomplishments

I've been fortunate to be at the cutting edge of learning through technology for over 35 years. From punchers through the early computers like the Apple ][, TRS-80, etc, to HyperCard, web and mobile, I've been fortunate to push the envelope on games, performance support, adaptive systems, and more. I led what I think is the first web-based serious game (Quest for Independence), the development of an adaptive learning system back circa 2000 (a decade ahead of it's time), very early mlearning (before smartphones), and a flexible content context-sensitive help system. I was recognized by the eLearning Guild as their first Guild Master. And I've not only keynoted nationally and internationally, but have written books about serious game design, mLearning, and now learning technology strategy. Oh, and a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology working with one of the recognized leaders of user experience

How I like to work with people
As an Advisor

My style is informal. Not surprisingly, I like to look at the context and goals, and I like to frame my advice based upon sound conceptual models. Experience would be great, but where I tend to add value is on new ground where there're few tracks. I tend to educate while I do so (one my my team members once said working with me was like going to grad school). I converse, diagram, and occasionally write up my thoughts.
