Key Accomplishments

In the tax dispute resolution sphere, I routinely save clients millions of dollars of taxes assessed unjustifiably by Canadian revenue authorities.

I have prepared cross-border R&D planning structures that allow intellectual property to accrue outside of Canada while maintaining access to Canada's R&D tax credits.

Using a variety of structures, optimize Canadian tax structures for businesses of all sizes, whether multinational or Canada-only.

How I like to work with people As a Cofounder

My approach to advisory services is much more collaborative than usual. I expect my clients to work with me, to maximize efficiency.

Along the same lines, I prefer wherever possible to meet using low-cost methods such as Skype, and to share documents using cloud-based services. Rare is the file where a face-to-face meeting is absolutely required; in such cases, I can meet at the entrepreneur's preferred location, or they are welcome to come to my office.

As an Advisor

I value open, quick communication over the usual approach of "gather all the possible facts, analyse all of the possible facts, and advise." I have found that this is a much more cost-effective approach to working with smaller clients. Ideally, the client will be able to do a lot of the work herself, reducing my role to that of an advisor / coach on taxation matters - where I can add the most value.
