How I like to work with people
As an Advisor

I am interested in companies that are working on genuine advances in technology, rather than new applications of existing technology. I can act as a CEO Coach if you have coping or personal development needs (cash fees), or as a company advisor with respect to almost any aspect of your startup (usually stock options). I am happy to spend a little time up front getting to know you and giving you some tips, but only if you or your company hold a particular interest for me. Consequently, if you decide to reach out, please explain why I might find it interesting.

Vouch for them.

Angela Friend
Data Scientist, Market Force Information. Previously Research Associate, University of Colorado Boulder.
Randy Castleman
We worked together  •  Visiting Scholar, Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering and Director, Bug Labs. Princeton grad.
Dave has a rare combination of serious technology chops and deep experience starting companies. He can bring analytical thinking and season ... ed experience to the table. And he's a great guy.
Steven Mason
Advisor, Poker Trip Enterprises and Generalist Mentor, Cleantech Open. Harvard grad. Tufts grad.
Dave is one of the deepest, substantive thinkers and technology architects anywhere. Equally important, whether as a CTO or an advisor, Dav ... e's detailed -- even gritty -- insights into complex technologies, neuroscience, and the nature and manipulation of data enable him not only to identify problems others don't see or recognize until it's otherwise too late, but to propose -- and if necessary implement (he's a pretty mean coder, too) -- elegant, near-optimal solutions. And on top of all that, Dave is one hell of a writer, and given my (some would say) impossibly high standards for communication, that is a compliment I sparingly -- if ever -- give to others.
Bill Adkins
We worked together  •  Campus Director, CodeCraft School of Technology and Cofounder and CEO, 12Locks.
Dave *is* a great advisor because he can very succinctly cut through the clutter to discern both the main questions to be asked of a startup ... with regards to its key focus/needs/problems, as well as distilling down to its essence those areas needing attention. Those qualities help founders rank/measure priorities and set goals. His vast experience and willingness to go against the grain means he can approach founders from a wide range of origins and help them converge on measurable focused steps to accomplishing milestones.

Bill Adkins
Campus Director, CodeCraft School of Technology and Cofounder and CEO, 12Locks.
Bill is a thoughtful and driven leader who has been part of the senior team on startups managed in a large variety of ways. His own insights ... plus experience give him a lot of depth to contribute to both strategic and tactical questions. He knows how to close deals but as important he understands which deals to close. If you have found some product-market fit, but need help taking that to the next level, Bill would be a tremendous resource.

Dan DeGolier, CPA
We worked together  •  Fractional CFO. Founder of Ascent CFO Solutions. Board Member. Entrepreneur.
Dan thinks big picture financial issues while being able to dig into the nitty gritty when appropriate.
