Good tool for managing email contact lists?

I have an app coming out on iOS in May, and as I network I'm gathering emails for a mailing list to let people know of progress, launch date, etc. Once the app is launched I'll also need to add customer emails automatically. Can anyone recommend a good contact management tool that isn't overly complex or expensive, and allows for unsubscribing and all those other requirements I'm as yet unaware of?

Mailchimp (awesome) constant contact, etc. There's a litter to choose from but I love the abundance of tools and integration with mailchimp all for free and they're from my hometown of Atlanta so doubly proud. Helen A Sent from my HTC One please excuse any typos.

Everyone I know uses LaunchRock to put up a splash page with an email harvest application. It syncs with Mailchimp, I believe, so you can port your email addresses into mailchimp or you can export an csv or xls and import into mailchimp.

I use PhPList. It's OpenSource and I host it on my own site. Relatively simple to set up and send emails. You get click statistics and timing.

Mailchimp - http://mailchimp.com/, pretty full featured and simple to use. Has a well documented API for subscribing/unsubscribing people as well as anything else you might need to do/.

Also, if you need a blog as part of your digital strategy, my company Digital Strategy Works, provides custom WordPress design and development. Let me now how I can help.

I've had some pretty good success recently with capsuleCRM on Google Apps. You can sync the plug ins for campaign tools like Mail Chimp, account tools, project management, etc. Also, after the free trial the cost is fairly inexpensive too.

I use insight.ly and the free integration with Mailchimp to do just this. Contacts can originate from a linked Gmail account or a variety of other sources. Then, depending on the message and target, I can assign tags to groups and create mailing lists in Mailchimp. Insightly is relatively cheap and Mailchimp is free up to 2000 contacts. I use MailChimps for my e-mail list / contact manager. Then you should sign up for Unbounce as your landing page, and then turn on integration to MailChimps. Then when people visit your landing page and enter their e-mail, Unbounce will automatically add it to your list in MailChimps. There is also LeadSquared, which does both, but it is more expensive and a little more complicated and in-depth.

This is an area I'm definitely enthusiastic about, I once built and operated a major email marketing service. You're definitely thinking about things the right way ... you don't want to do this stuff by hand. The gold standard low-end email marketing vendor is Constant Contact, but I don't know their entry pricing. Mailchimp (astutely) starts at free. Cheers Dave

Rachel Try mailchimp. It is free for smaller lists and has basic functionality. If you want to take the next level look at Sendpepper which costs a bit more. Both have good guides on how to use them , but Sendpepper is a bit more comprehensive For the front of the process, Leadpages creates very easy to use sign up pages and their blog and videos have excellent tips on how to maximise conversions. Leadpages has very easy integration to both Mailchimp and Sendpepper so you can do the whole lot without developer resource. Some web hosting packages come with free /cheap email list building tools which do the job. I gave up with the ones on my packages because they were too difficult to use but if you have a tame techy to hand and are bootstrapping then may be worth a look. Mark
