Goal setting and accountability Meetups. Anyone have experience with a group like this?

I've heard about small groups that meet to help keep founders on track. I ask because I'm jealous of my friends who have found cofounders. It definitely seems to be a big help to have someone to regularly talk to about challenges, goals, and to keep each other on track.

When I was in the Founder Institute, we had weekly meetings with a group of 4-6 people. It was helpful but I came away thinking that an even smaller group, like 2-3 people total, might be of the most benefit.

Have any of you have experience with groups like this? How was it organized? Would any of you be interested in such a group in SF?

That's a great idea, I'd be open to anything like that in the West LA area.

As a place to start, I'd exchange a private, biweekly email newsletter to hold us accountable to each other. It's a way to have both accountability and competitiveness, and hopefully inspiration.

I'm interested :-)

The Lean Startup Circle meetup is organizing such weekly peer to peer groups in SF. I can connect you offline.
They are meant exactly as you say, to help founders keep working on their startup in a lean way ie on the one thing most likely to move their business forward.
I'm looking for space to start a peer to peer group using this model in the Palo Alto area.

I'd be open to this as well. I'm in Austin and would prefer to meet face to face.

Support this 100%!!!

I met a fellow entrepreneur at a networking event and we were in similar situations with our startups - she asked me if I'd like to be an accountability partner and we meet every other week which has worked out incredibly well. I was in a larger group which was great, but not as effective in setting specific goals with each other and literally holding each other accountable.

One recommendation I'd make is to spend the first meeting just talking about how you want to structure and run the meetings, what each person wants to get out of them and the recurrence. This will make you the most efficient and get a lot of value out of the time invested.

I've been thinking about this concept - would you be interested in having a 2 minute goals-driven "standup"-type meeting daily via text message to help: 1) keep yourself accountable and motivated to meet your goals for the day, and 2) provide support to those who are struggling in a peer-to-peer way?
