What has been the most effective cold email that you have ever used?

I am about to start sending out some emails to potential partners to gain additional distribution channels and want to make sure I am correctly formatting them. I believe cold emailing is a great way to start generating some leads. I am just not 100% sure I have everything I need to make this successful. I want to hear from you guys on what the basics are, what should be included and what should not. I would also like to know what has worked for you, or on you. I am eager to start sending these out.

I also use e-mails to generate leads but do not leave it at e-mails. I combine follow-up phone calls and (snail) mail paper brochures. In reference to format, my personal preference it to first thank the individual for the opportunity to introduce myself, provide a brief description and benefit of services, how those services will benefit their people, and contact info. I try to keep it to 3 paragraphs. Short and to the point. I also limit the distribution to less than 50 at a time. An IT person once told me that if I do more than that at one time I can get tagged as a spammer and cause issues for the company e-mail. I am not sure if that is the case any more, but I do not take chances. There are products that will help with e-mail distribution but my personal lead generation does not warrant complex systems. Thanks
