How do you find mentors and advisers and build relationships with them?

Labour revolution is happening in front of our eyes and as rules of the game are changing, formal education is simply not enough anymore. There are mentors and advisers all over. Some of them are really worth your time and the money and some of them are self proclaimed with suspicious CVs and experience. How do you make the difference and how do you find mentors and advisers and build relationships between them?

Reach out to them. Have a purpose for contacting them. Any advisor or mentor I ever utilized was very recognizable and established, so I have never had to look at a CV. And generally, I only reach out to people who have had recognizable roles in visible companies. That does not mean there are not good mentors out there in the shadows. In terms of finding them, do your research. You can find them on lists like the Forbes 400. You can read about them in reputable business magazines, or Media. Then email them. Never has connecting been so easy or accessible.

Have you checked out KarmaCircles? That's a great place to find mentors.
