Getting FD emails on missing discussion topics

I keep getting automated emails from FD regarding seemingly interesting topics. But, when I come to the site, the topics don't exist. Have they been deleted? Or, where do I find them?

I believe this is heavy handed censorship by FD. It's really bad.

I for one am disgusted by the practice, to that point that I have started looking for startup forums elsewhere.

Yes. FD censors the discussions. When something is posted that they don't like, they delete it, but, the initial email is still sent out. The delete discussions that have anything to do with people meeting off line, for example. This is because they want to be able to track this on the site. They've been trying hard to determine how to know whether one person met with another, etc. I believe this is why they have that survey sometimes popping up when you're messaging with someone asking you how many times you met. If someone posts a discussion for people to meet offline, they can no longer track the interactions, etc.
None of us like this.

They have been censored by FD ... without explanation. The censorship seems rather random, arbitrary and caprecicious. I'm surprised this thread was not censored. the censorship doesn't seem to always correlate wtih the terms of use. Re off line activity one would think the whole point of FD is to connect potential cofounders who will then take their private communications offline.

Haven't they been stopping people from asking about interest in joining projects too? That thread was deleted before I could read it. I thought the whole point was to find someone to partner with. I WANT to be contacted about joining projects. I dunno...

How come this discussion wasn't censored? I'm really surprised! Yes, I hate this censorship too. It's annoying to click on the link and then get redirected to the main discussions page. I'd be less annoyed if they at least just disabled participationin the discussions, but didn't delete them. Something feels really shady about redirecting me somewhere else like the discussion never existed.

This happened to me four times last week and its really frustrating. I wrote them about it and they said it was due to discussions violating the terms of service, but several of the missing discussions didn't appear to fall into that camp. Perhaps too many people are using the discussions, which are quite valuable, and not the rest of the service? Hopefully they can find a good balance before the community splits.

Overengaged community -- sounds like a good problem to have. Lets hope they begin to practice what they preach and leverage this enthusiasm.
