Are there personality types to look for and/or avoid in business partners?

I want to understand if there are personality types that thrive better as business partners than others based on the experience of entrepreneurs. If I have a short window of time to decide if I should partner, how do I make sure their personality or business style works for me?

Yes there are and in the book Larry and Barry Guide to Entrepreneurial Wisdom the extrovert and introvert traits of the partners are revealed. The person responsible for marketing must be an energetic ever-optimist and the person responsible for managing the operations of a business must be a bit pessimistic, always planning on problems occurring and having a "Plan B". Hello Anonymous. Personality traits testing provides many discrete - and useful - pieces of information about a person, and so can the legions of other tests based on the 'self-inventory survey' model. However, there is a completely new technology that identifies and organizes the different ways people seek to serve a team or a mission. And isn't teaming quality (positive team chemistry) what you really need to know when selecting a co-founder, naming a partner, or creating a high-performance team? Teamabililty(R) is the product of 25 years of behavioral science and tech development. The core concepts are from physics and systems theory, not from psychology. A person's mode of teaming comes from their internal orientation to serving a specific area of team need: envisioning the mission; bringing people together; exploring possibilities; big-picture organization; and so on. This new field of management guidance is delivering extraordinary business value from startups and early-stage companies, to giant corporations. Example: a large company with 30% turnover on new hires made a single addition to its hiring process (using Teamability for screening and selection). From that point on, they had no new-hire turnover at all for 2 1/2 years, while adding 500+ people. Additional qualitative measures elicited by the online teaming exercise include Coherence (which relates to steadiness and resilience in the face of challenge) and Teaming Characteristics, which describe likely behaviors in specific situational context. I would also like to chime in that you need to find out the true personality of your business partner. Insist on talking to previous employees and business partners, people that can give you a frank and honest appraisal of their character. If they refuse to offer such references well you know something is amiss.
