Who has influenced you the most as an entrepreneur?

Normally you would either learn from people that are close to you or perhaps from folks that you are following. I would love to know who has influenced you the most and why.

My folks. My dad was logical and practical. When I was 14 I asked permission to smoke and he said OK if I only smoke cigars and an (knowing the cigar would make me sick) occasional pipe, but I had to promise never to smoke cigarettes Also when I was offered a contract .to play Class D baseball (class D no longer exists) he said that if I didn't think I was good enough for the majors then I shouldn't waste time and go through the miserable life of a minor league, He was right. My mom stressed honesty and civil duty. At one point she worked in my company as a bookkeeper. One day we received a large check from a well known department store. It was a duplicate sent by mistake. I held it in my hand in front of her and said I would deposit it and return the funds to them in 2 weeks. She grabbed the check from my hands, wrote a note saying it was sent twice and put the check in a return envelop. She then sternly looked up at me and sternly said: "I did not bring up my son to be a thief". I ran a successful business and was always proud that I had never gave or received a bribe, even if it meant a more successful one.

There have been several over the course of my 40 year career as follow:
Scott E. Cohen - Scott was my first mentor back in the early 80's and he taught me about work ethics, the art of the silent close, how to plan for downtimes and how to walk into any room like I own it (and I will).

Kjell O. Nelson, III- Kjell was my boss, partner and friend from the late 80's until present day and he taught me how to value real estate developments, how to network and how to compromise in order to get a deal done!

Rich Wheeless- Was my mentee for the past 5 years and I am now advising him as the CEO of PingTank, Inc. Rich has taught me how to vett a startup pitch, how to structure startup financing from seed to A Round and how to stay nimble.

Question is not clear enough. Influenced in what sense exactly?
