Which are the best cities where to launch startup on Iot and personal security dev. & services?

We're currently based in Italy, but we are looking for abroad opportunities.
We are testing the second round prototypes, but it's the right time to boost the startup.

Thanks in advance.

San Diego is a great place to start a business, as are other research university communities. However, you do not want to run a business from California due to personal income taxes and bureaucracy. Therefore once the business is going move it to another state. San Diego is also a great place to live due to the weather and local activities. Arthur

You need to be able to attract local talent and have access. There are some growing "tech hubs" in the Mid West USA but they are young and do not have significant talent. Arthur is right about California- the Bay Area costs will just shock you. Seattle has a vibrant tech culture and fabulous access. Vancouver and Toronto are also great with significant cost and tax advantages.

Salt Lake City, specifically Park City, are emerging tech hubs. Here in Park City, companies, hospitals etc. can all be very selective in hiring top talent because of the high quality of life in a mountain town. It's not cheap, but nothing like SF, Boston or Austin. Skullcandy, Rosignol and Backcountry.com are here in PC. We are also getting a brand new tech center and are deeoly intrenched with angel networks given the fact that a lot of rich people retire here or live here part time to go skiing. Other local HQs include Bluehost.com, Avant Link, Intermountain Healthcare just to name a few. Utah is extremely business friendly.

All previous comments have a great deal of merit. I believe it worth your time to contact the Chamber of Commerce offices in the areas you are considering, and perhaps the business development team in the Mayor's office, to learn what incentives are available, etc. I'm located in Austin but recruit all over the world and my focus would be first on Austin (because I find it to be the most entrepreneurial driven/friendly mindset at this time), then the Raleigh/Durham area, Atlanta and then Boston...and Park City (mentioned above) is also an area to include in your consideration. There are adequate talent pools in each of these areas and an investment/banking community who is familiar with the needs of a start-up/young company.

Best of luck!
