What is the best finance team make up for NY companies? Does it matter the size?

I am in the middle of a series of discussions on Human Capital with several growth oriented companies with most of them representing the Middle Market. The sentiment has varied on the make up, however all organizations feel their team needs to be impactful. Here is a summary of the results:https://thecfoalliance.org/blog.

Tomorrow in NY we will be featuring the make up of finance team of 2 Middle Market Companies and one very large fortune 1000 company. We recently evaluated these companies and found some interesting results on the make up of these teams. Here is a link to the discussion:http://bit.ly/NYSept28

This leads me to the question: what is the best make up of growth oriented companies? Do we try to stack the team with similar type people? or Do we need complimentary skill sets?
