Health insurance

Hi all,
Any advice for health insurance plans that are geared towards small businesses or single member LLC's? What have founders done for insurance after leaving their companies?

We have just gone with a family plan with Cigna.

The thing is, me and my family are relatively healthy, so we decided to treat it like traditional "insurance" like you would get for a car. The only time you should need it is when there is an emergency. We never considered plans that include massages or anything fancy.

You actually have several options. Come October you can go to a broker like myself and I can help you participate in Covered California which is the state run health exchange. Depending on your income you could be eligible for a subsidy which will reduce the cost of your monthly premium. Currently individual coverage os medically underwritten but come January, 2014 even individual insurance will be guarantee issue. Message or email me directly and I'm happy to help you navigate :-)

Which state are you in? I would look into participating with the new Obamacare plans. Either your state will have a plan (e.g. http://www.coveredca.com for California) or there will be a federal exchange for states that don't opt-in. That might work out better than an individual plan. --Tony

Great question. We got coverage through our local Chamber of Commerce. $500 a year for membership got us access to the group plans of the Chamber. Sent from my iJimmy http://twitter.com/jimmyjacobson

The chamber plans are super expensive compared to what you can get. If you have a husband wife, you can do a group plan and really save on cost in a variety of ways.

What state are you located in? I am launching a PEO HR service that targets small businesses and self-employed and offers a way to pool health insurance so that you get the best plan even as a single member LLC

I'm also looking for Health Insurance. Susie, I'm in California. Do you offer your service there?
