Does anyone have recommendations for ERP solutions for medical device?

Looking to get a lay of the land of what are considered the best/worst options.

Also would like to hear pain points and gaps that are currently not addressed by any of the readily available options.

Thanks for any help!

When you say "for medical device", what do you mean more specifically? For device manufacturing? Distribution? Service? All of the those?

Luis, I've been involved with integrating medical devices to EHR/HIS/CIS for some time. I know people who may be able to helpsolve integration challenges. Can you be a bit more specific about the type of medical device, and the solution you're seeking? Doesthe organizationuse a system of integrated applications togather and storephysiologic patientdata fromcertain medical devices?

The key is Serialized Inventory and Lot Control multi level trace and recallas well as strong QC and regulatory compliance. You will need Engineering and Revision Control as well as abilities to have certified vendors. The solutions that fit this space range from SAP B1, Oracle, Infor M3 and Dynamics AX for the Tier I to Smaller tier solutions such as Exact Software, Syspro, Epicor, Global Shop and many others. Pain points come when you don't do a good selection and matching of requirements. Having worked with medical manufacturers (surgical devices, instruments, etc.) many times in the past in both selection and implementation the above areas are places that differentiate the business model so focus in on that and you should be closer to the right selection. Would be happy to share a list of about 1200 requirement which I have clients go through to help identify key areas you may or may not be looking at. Gap map is the most important part of the discovery. If costs are a critical issue then find a solution that lets you start with less and add as you need if you are just coming to market. Hope this helps.

Ability to integrate with the CRM that your sales team (or that of your channel partners) would be a key factor, too. Med device education during pre-sales will often involve very early prototypes - customers will want to know how your supply chain holds up to stress (spikes in demand vs unforeseenslowdowns).
