Good Email marketing tutorials?

Do you know of any good email marketing tutorials on YouTube? I'm just getting started, thinking about whether to sign up for an ESP, and would love some pointers before making any decisions.

Are you looking to do just emails/newsletters, etc or are you looking to do email marketing automation?

Have YOU written down on paper the desired result of email marketing?
That may sound sophomoric, but it is the first step.
Have you thought how to reach the prospect to become members of your list?
Do you know where they are?
Call me when convenient and we can discuss how easy it is to get started...
Once you have established your written Plan of Action
I have terrible service on cell..
leave a message and I will return promptly

If you're just looking to send out a regular newsletter, a simple email service will do fine. If you're looking to be more sophisticated and send out automated emails and do more sophisticated campaigns (detailed segmentation) you will need an automation platform (which ties to your CRM).

Great question. We use constant contact right now, but also have RelateIQ(really love the interface on this one) and want to integrate the two. Curious to see what others use and suggest as well.

Video & Digital Media
There are a few techniques and "do"s & "don't"s that can increase e-mail opening and click rates:

1- Video. Studies have shown that e-mails with links to video have a higher rate of click throughs and conversion.

2- Images: there are conflicting studies and reports on using images. Although many argue that it's a good thing to add, I've noticed that our e-mail marketing click throughs increase when we have no images.

3- Keep the e-mail short.

4- Depending on your target and their habits, it is best to send e-mails on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Before noon or around 3PM. This info varies, you should experiment and see when you get the highest opening.

5- Send the same e-mail to people who did not open it, but change the subject line. Your platform should have a feature on this.

6- Avoid long subject lines.

As far as tools:

Infusionsoft has a good solution that combines CRM with e-mail marketing. But it has a horrific interface and it's expensive, although much cheaper than HubSpot.

Check out HubSpot's blog, they have great insight on e-mail marketing. Their CRM is free, by the way.

HubSpot is quite feature-rich but pricey if you don't need a lot of their features. They have 30 days free and a program for startups who meet their qualifications.
