Recommendation for CPA to do corporate tax returns?

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive CPA to help us file our corporate tax returns? We are a small startup and it should be straightforward, but I'm not an expert in this area and don't want to go with a big firm. Thanks in advance - L.

My accountant, David Sorblum at DHS & Co. is knowledgeable about startups and very reasonably priced. His email address is [removed to protect privacy] and his phone no. is [removed to protect privacy]. He's in NY, but I guess most accountants now have 50-state tax software.

I was a Senior Partner in a very large CPA firm for many years in a former life and worked with a woman named Jennifer Lollis, She was by far the best and smartest corporate and international tax person I have ever met She now has her own boutique practice and I hight recommend her.

Hi Lucia, storefront+retail+inventory+online sales in one entity elevates a business beyond straightforward bookkeeping and taxes in my opinion.

If you have physical goods and storefront space in CA I would suggest a CA based CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA). There are usually layers of local, sales tax and property tax for retail businesses that non-local tax professionals may not be up on.

Find any experienced CPA who you like and who will do your tax returns for a fixed price. Run away from anyone who wants to charge you hourly. Corp tax returns are not hard especially for startups with no revenue, and you want to be sure you are tracking your tax loss carryforwards properly. Expect to pay more if you have inventory, deferred income, and/or international business.

I have found Dave Dillwood to be sharp, good to work with and very reasonable on fees, though his wine country location puts him at the north end of the Bay Area. http://www.dbmcpa.com/about-us/

Hi Lucia, I'm an Enrolled Agent, not a CPA, but we do specialize in business taxes for small businesses. What state are you operating out of and what state (if different) are you incorporated in?

Finding the right CPA is like finding any other service provider for your business, it is all about fit.

Glenn Ballard is the founder and a CPA at Marpe Finance & Accounting. Glenn focuses on advising startups and so he is qualified to provide you with great tax advice and he also has a rate schedule that is extremely favorable to startups. Of course price should not be the only consideration when building your team, but it is a larger consideration for early stage companies than once you have some revenue built up. You can review Glenn's website here.

Please feel free to contact Glenn directly at [removed to protect privacy]. If you prefer, I'd also be happy to introduce to Glenn via e-mail or make additional recommendations.
