Do you have a good Gantt/project management timeline template?

We are helping create a project timeline for a kickstarter campaign and would like something that can be edited/updated from multiple geographic locations so we aren't sending excel back and forth.

Google sheets is the obvious answer, and we can create our own from scratch, but just wondering if anyone has a good template for a gantt timeline or something similar that we can just adapt instead of starting from scratch.

Thanks!

Molly, There are a lot of good, free applications out there to let your team collaborate such as Viewpath. You could also use spreadsheets on Google Docs if you don't need the features of a PM/PPM solution. I would advise to use Viewpath or some smartphone apps like Quickpath.

There are a couple of free platforms you might be able to utilize (depending on how many users you have). Here is an article that nicely outlines some of the different features and costs (should you exceed the free limit): http://blog.capterra.com/free-open-source-project-management-software/ I also have some friends using Smartsheet (only a free trial - not free like the ones listed in the article) and it does both single and aggregated timelines. They are very pleased with the system and the ease of use.

Molly, good day. We use Smartsheet for some very large gantt charts, lots of "apps" for task allocation and reporting. A great tool. www.smartsheet.com. Costs a bit, but well worthwhile. All the best, Giles.

Yes. Smartsheet is my fave tool for this and has a pre-existing template that use Gantt, it's as easy as fill in the blanks. Can toggle between task view, and cal view, and Gantt view.

Can collaborate with users via cloud, it's always updated, can create cell dependancies, emails to auto-ping different people for approvals, track resourcing of your studio etc... all for about $15 a month.

I spent a total of 5 hours assessing tools for my business, listening to webinars etc... this one is my favorite on both reputation, and from personal experience.

This might've been what you meant by "google sheets is the obvious answer" but there are already some Gantt templates out there that you can use with google sheets. So you shouldn't have to start from scratch at all. Pick a few, find the one(s) that work for you and give'm a try.

TeamGantt.com is pretty good, and pretty cheap for up to 5 users.

+1 for SmartSheet... Not exactly sure what types of collaborative project management you're considering, but Ryver (http://www.ryver.com) is worth a long look, too.
