Best HR company to outsource to?

We're an early stage tech company and we're just starting to scale. I've hired 3 people in three days and there are more coming. I know if left to my own devices, I will definitely screw up filing our payroll taxes. For us it has to be outsourced... At least I know my weaknesses. The staff, as in all of the staff is commission based where they are paid on the number of files the open/process/fund/underwrite. Many of them work from home and they are geographically spread out. It is possible that an employee goes a payperiodor two without pay especially if there is a downturn or someone upstream from them was slacking off. So I'd like to hear your suggestions for companies I should talk to take this on. PLEASE DO NOT RECOMMEND YOUR OWN FIRM.

For anything less than 10 people, an HR firm is probably overkill. I did my payroll services through Wells Fargo Bank, and was very satisfied by their system.

I've been in HR for 20 years and when it was time for our start-up ProfHire to hire employees, I went with Gusto (gusto.com), because I know what a mess it can be if you screw up on taxes, worker's comp, etc. I have been very happy with them. They send reminders of when it is time to do payroll, etc. Gusto used to be ZenPayroll before Zenefit took over the Zen space.
By the way, you really don't need a PEO or an HR firm. (Gusto charges something like $9 a month per employee.)

We utilized Algentis for many years. They not only do the onboarding, but are a full HR firm, including coordinating and administering benefits, payroll, terminations, and so on.

They also provide an "official" HR function in the case when an employee needs to speak with an unbiased party.

+1 for gusto, been extremely happy with them and we went through a couple.

Algentis and Justworks (https://justworks.com) are worth a look as well. Both are PEO providers.

If you go with a PEO do a little research and make sure it's the right model for your company. Trinet also uses the PEO model. Gusto is the best non-PEO for start ups and SMBs that I have found.

G2 Insurance in San Francisco handles all HR items in addition to benefits and insurance. I don't believe you have to be an insurance customer to get the HR package. They're great guys and easy to work with

Corey, I would suggest you stay away from Paylocity (Rochester NY). We did not have a lot of success with them when we needed change management. They missed deadlines and had numerous systems issues. We had great success with Paychex, but it is probably too early for them. Have you looked at Zenefits? Good luck and know that it will require someone on your team to still play a significant role in data entry. Will

I seem to have pressed "post" too quickly. I also wanted to say that you should stay away from ADP. They are a huge firm with horrible customer service. Especially since you're small, you will just get lost in their bureaucracy and they will try to upsell you over and over again.
