Virtual Reality - What are the best softwares available for development?

I have made a google cardboard, 360 degree with spatial sound integration Android demo project using Unity

I am planning to start a new project, which will be live, so was wondering what are other options available for Virtual reality development, apart from Unity?

There's Unreal Engine, which is pretty popular, or you can always develop natively, too.
Unity probably gives you the best overall support though, allowing you to easier target multiple platforms.
I've been doing VR development for about a year and a half, mainly focusing on native development, but we're starting most new projects in Unity.

Also, if you want to try out the VR experience, Crytek, an independent videogame company and developer of Cryengine software started an initiative to bring virtual reality labs to universities around the world.

Hello Satinder,

Unity all the way! Is a quite mature platform and almost everybody (VR SDK from manufacturers) support it.

Maybe you could consider Unreal, maybe. For now, continuing with Unity is a safe bet.

Cheers!
