Can anyone recommend a PR consultant, or source for multiple consultants?

Does anyone have a recommendation for how to find PR consultants, or experience with online PR consultant services? I'm looking at ODesk/UpWork, but not sure about the quality of work, of course. I'm also wondering if anyone has experience using the newswire services (PR Web, Business Wire, PR Newswire, Global Newswire) for PR work as well as press releases. Thanks in advance.

Well, Rachel Ratliff, this response is from Peter Radsliff. ; ) Are you looking for real PR professionals or an easy-cheezy online approximation? I have contacts whom Ive worked with on both ends of that paradigm that I could refer you to. A little more info on what youre looking to do, please. Feel free to call me if you like. Regarding wire services, I wrote a blog post on it:http://www.firecrackerpr.com/2011/09/07/whats-the-deal-with-wire-services/

"Firecracker PR provided complete public relations guidance for the launch of our new ride service app, asterRIDE. Within months, we were mentioned in top media including CNET and Washington Post. As we rolled out the app in targeted cities, Firecracker secured us stories and interviews in newspapers, television and radio. Firecracker goes beyond the call of duty to advise us on all things media and public relations. They are a true member of our team."

-Seth Rudin, founder and CEO of asterRIDE

"Firecracker landed us high profile articles in Entrepreneur.com, Business Insider and a radio interview within the first few months of our engagement. They've exceeded my expectations of what a PR firm can deliver. The work Firecracker did jumped my company's web visits over 900% by landing a high profile article in Business Insider. This doesn't even include being published in Entrepreneur and other mass media positions. This is nothing less than spectacular."

-William Hall, EVP of Corporate Learning at SimStudios

We are a new generation agency that blends PR with content marketing to drive attention and awareness for businesses.

Our motto is: "big agency results at small agency prices".

Past project clients include Pentel, King's Hawaiian, Boeing, National University, CO-OP Financial Services, D-Link and many more.

Media outlets that we've secured coverage in include Techcrunch, Forbes, Inc., Business Insider, CNN, NBC News, ABC World TV News, Fox TV News, CNET, Entrepreneur.com, LA Times, Businessweek, Mashable, Buzzfeed, Engadget, Gizmodo and many, many others.

More vertically-specific outlets we've gotten coverage in include Website Magazine, eWeek, Computerworld, eMarketer, CRN, Multichannel News, Mortgage Technology, Retail Touchpoints and many more.

Some achievements:

-Experience in helping companies launch new products or services, or brand new companies, with full service PR from the ground up:

-PR strategy and messaging
-Media contact list targeting
-PR timeline and milestones
-Press release pipeline
-Event publicity
-Award submissions
-Press kit

-Secured press placements for startups like the Slim app on Techcrunch and Mashable. The Techcrunch article led to so many downloads of their software that it crashed their site on the very first day!

-Successfully promoted Kickstarter campaigns, most notably Monkey Light Pro, helping them exceed their $180k goal to $250k. Monkey Light Pro was featured in Buzzfeed, Mashable and CNET.

-Able to help companies get coverage through originally written opinion articles.

I'd love to chat with you and learn more about your business! Please let me know when we can talk.

I have worked with Marci Bracco for years and she is both a dyamo with great media relations and she's really well-priced.

I have always gone with industry specific PR firms. My experience is they know everybody of note in their sector and how to achieve your desired result. I was promoting a brand or specific product line, though. I have also used location specific firms for situations like entertainment venues or restaurants.

Great imagination, attention to detail with robust contacts in the entertainment industry. I recommend Ginger, President of Snap Productions in L.A. She runs a boutique Event Production, PR & Marketing firm with a strong emphasis on social good. Reasonable prices. www.snap-productions.com
