Looking for Healthcare Funding Events

I am advising a start-up in the healthcare services sector. It would be good if they can attent some funding events to check their ideas and get feedback from potential investors and fellow entrepreneurs. Do you know any such events in the next 6 to 9 months (summits, conferences, competitions, etc.)?

1st Pitch Life Science (Mid Atlantic Bio Angels) would be a good one. Next event will be on February 23rd at 5.30pm.

It really depends which segment in healthcare you're looking at and what stage the company is at.

Since you're based in Madrid, a good place to start this year would be the Digital Health & Wellness summit at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (24th Feb). I know that there will be investors at this session and pitches from entrepreneurs. It will also give you an opportunity to meet people who have experience with EU funding (H2020, AAL-JP, IMI etc) if you are looking for public-private partnerships.

For Series A funding and mid-stage companies I would tryHealth Tech summit hosted by e-unlimited:

Although the next one is in June it's definitely worth going to (both as a novice investor and entrepreneur)

For later stage companies try this one (investors likely to be family offices)

if you are interested in connect on LinkedIn, I do the same but specifically for impact investing and elderly care startups.

Business plan competitions can offer a good way to get some early non-dilutive funding in. There are a lot of them around and you just need to do some Googling - be resourceful, which is one of the most important skills for an entrepreneur. Start here: http://www.bizplancompetitions.com

Accelerators I'd recommend that could be helpful:
  • Rock Health (SF) - was probably the best a couple years ago but has shifted focus to a different model in last couple years
  • Blueprint Health (NYC) - went through with my last company and had a great experience - especially good for first-time entrepreneurs
  • Others I've heard have decent programs are Healthbox, Health 2.0, Startup Health
  • Y Combinator (Silicon Valley) - the best accelerator out there, and they've gotten more and more into healthcare. I know because I went through with a medical device company. This is your best option if you want to get a lot of funding in and shift into the next gear.
Good luck!

Thank you all,

It was really helpful. Although we are based in Madrid, our client is based in NY, so the suggestions for all global events or US focused funds are very much appreciated.

Good luck to all of you
