Co-founder compatibility test

I created this test to help people find out if they're a good match with potential co-founders. After both people take the test you can get a compatibility rating. The test covers most issues and concerns that can cause friction between co-founders and is a great resource to use as a catalyst for discussion. Hope you find it useful!

Please let me know if you have any questions/choices to add or if you have any other feedback on the test.

Matt, It's a good idea. I think you're fairly silicon big picture stuff. What's missing is the little picture stuff - mbti or similar type of day to day interactions, work approach, culture stuff, meeting style, productivity, etc. Sent from my iPhone

Oops. That would be "fairly solid on the big picture stuff". Love that autocomplete! Sent from my iPhone

That's a good point Vijay. I wonder if it would be better to add those questions or to create a new survey called "Work style compatibility" or something like that. My concern is that the test is already 30+ questions. Thoughts?

Very cool. Maybe a v2 will introduce you to people that did match with you well.

Different modules would make a lot of sense and probably also help on the monetization part Sent from my iPhone

I agree with the 'Big Picture' assessment... Which is hilarious actually, because I believe there are 10 types of people in the world... Those that see big picture and those that don't.

My guess is you need one of each in every type of relationship - but that still means there are Mars -vs- Venus type communication challenges :-)

I think this test is a great idea and covers most of the questions.

From personal though limited experience I would also add the following questions (sorry if i missed it in the test):

- why do you want to start a company?
- would you sell for $5MM, $20MM, $100MM...etc?
- if we ever have an office where would it be located? are there any areas that are off-limits? (as in I will not be able to commute to X city every day).
- what's your take on telecommuting: 1. not ok 2. ok part-time 3. ok full-time
- availability for attending events on the weekends and weekday nights.
- work culture: top 3 values for company and future employees
- what additional team members would you want to bring on board in the next 12 months?
- which cofounders would be on the board of directors? both cofounders, the ceo, the C-person with most shares, etc
- what kind of decisions will be the responsibility of the board (issue of more shares, hirihg/firing of C-level members, pivoting, sale, taking on investments)

Matt, this is a wonderful list of questions. I haven't had a chance to try it out, yet in reading the list there appears to be some clear categories of questions and I think it would be helpful to both parties if the questions were grouped in those categories. That would make it easier to see the whole picture. Mike Winer
