Solutions for recurring payments

Curious to hear what solutions folks have used to handle automatically recurring payments. I'm looking for something that I can use to automatically bill clients monthly. Here's what we're looking for:

* individual transaction size in the hundreds of $/month
* don't necessarily need client facing web payment UI (can input client info via backend terminal)
* easy to use is best
* as inexpensive as possible (obvious)

I'm wading through Paypal docs now, but haven't decoded their levels of service, fee structure, etc.

Any other good options out there that folks can vouch for? Many thanks.

-pete

Recurly is specifically for subscription/recurring payments.

Stripe! They have monthly (and weekly, now) billing and are the easiest to use.

I haven't used them but TWiT has had good things to say about freshbooks.com. They offer online billing, recurring invoices, and auto payment. Best of luck, Al

I've used Recurly in the past as well. They have a robust API for integrating your billing pages and also a comprehensive web interface to manually input info, update, and check on accounts as needed.

I haven't used Stripe but the fact that they are an all-in-one solution is appealing. With Recurly you have to sign up for a merchant account / gateway in addition to their service.

I'd probably use Stripe , which supports subscriptions and a lot more (https://stripe.com/docs/subscriptions )

I've never seen some of these others, but they look intriguing.

I wouldn't do PayPal or Amazon. PayPal requires additional monthly fees to whitelabel the credit card processing ( if you don't pay the fees, everything happens through a paypal account or paypal branded page ). It's worth it if you ship physical goods, because they have a great shipping / postage integration. Amazon payments/checkout is branded by amazon. PayPal docs are really bad and their support is pretty sub-par. They change the API often and there are conflicting docs out there. Amazon is a much better choice. If you do use PayPal, make sure you have the right API version setting.
