Recommendation for accountant in San Francisco

I am looking for a good accountant in San Francisco who can help with book keeping and taxes for a Delaware C Corp. Any recommendations? Also I would like to know how much one should budget for such activities. I am sure rates are all across the board so I am trying to find out what is considered reasonable for a small startup with very little accounting activity.

Thanks in advance for your response

Manu

I definitely recommend Leslie Murdock of Murdock Martell. They specialize in providing finance and accounting services to tech start-ups.www.linkedin.com/in/lesliemurdock/. They use off the shelf SAAS tools that substantially automate thebookkeepingand provide you with weekly dashboards and monthly financial reports. As Leslie has worked with literally hundreds of start-up he can also provide you with business and financialcounsel. He can be contacted at[removed to protect privacy].

You may be able to go for a "cheaper" option on the week-to-week work if you commit to an accountant for your yearly tax filings and have him set up the books + do periodic cleanups. My accountant offers that ( he doesn't want the day-to-day bookkeeping , but doesn't want to deal with a headache at the end of the year )

We use Beyond Bookkeeping in SF and they've been great to work with. We spend about $350/mo. We're also fairly light on accounting but do have 7 people and angel funding.

Jonathan or others - Any recommendations for an account who will do the initial set up/periodic cleanups/tax and works well with Wave or Zero? Wave seems fairly straightforward and I don't have much going on in my startup right now except a few expenses, so I'm looking for a low cost option that basically makes sure I'm not doing anything wrong and does the taxes.

Thanks so much!

Ive worked with John Volk at Sensiba San Filippo (SSF) and was very happy with them. They are an experienced firm and though not the cheapest, they do work to control costs. Accounting is an area I wouldrecommendspending the money as it will cost more to cleanup if errors are made. In terms of cost, as you said, it all depends on the business, but for a small startup with little activity you might be able to get abookkeeperat a decent firm for $75-100/hr (5ish hrs per month) and expect to spend $2-5K for tax returns, 1099s, etc.
