Who invests in high-end fitness/wellness products?

Our startup is launching a patented instrument for deep-tissue myofascial release, sports massage and corporate wellness. RolPal(TM) addresses an unarticulated human need: therapeutic touch with the intention of providing relief from everyday aches and pains, tightness, soreness, injury and stress.

We're told our invention may also have medical applications as a therapeutic instrument, but we lack the funding to go after the type of medical research to confirm this and make our device eligible for insurance coverage.

That hasn't prevented us from getting the attention of several sports teams, PT facilities, prestigious gym chains and the New York Times.

In addition to product sales, RolPal(TM) is a good candidate for becoming a content-generating phenomenon in support of the product-line; much like the Trigger-Point, Melt Method, TRX and ViPR. RolPal(TM) is relevant to as many communities as those companies, with the added benefit of appealing to couples, families, companies and just about anyone seeking a holistic approach to stress relief.

How do we find the type of investor that can help take this from being a good idea with artisanal production to a great product with broad appeal and worldwide distribution?

You might look at consumer focused firms like Maveron. Or more therapy-oriented firms like Novartis. Other than that, you could also target angels and see where that gets you.
