pre-launch coming soon page

Hey All,

So we are working on a new product and I'd like to generate some interest prior to beta launch. As most do, we are thinking of a basic 'coming soon' landing page with high level detail and a form to submit contact info to get potential customers to let us know they are interested.

Anyone have experience doing this and can speak to best practices? I'm interested in tips on driving traffic/sign-ups to the page, tools to get the page up, etc.

The product is aimed at brick & mortar SMBs.

All the best,
Jason

Unbounce rocks to get a landing page up fast. They have some decent resources on their site with advice for effective landing pages.

I agree with Tim's suggestion. We used their service when we pre-launched https://www.esl101.com/, testing multiple variants. This was particularly useful in identifying which copy and design options were the most appealing to our potential customers.

We're using LaunchRock. Super simple, good analytics, etc. Like Francis' comment about multivariant testing.

LaunchRock looks pretty solid in terms of the social media side, but the pages themselves are quite light. We'd like to include slightly more than just a one sentence blurb on what we do. Is this possible with LaunchRock?

Launchrock lets you add follow-on pages, and isn't a bad solution.

I advise concept-level companies to build full-fledged marketing sites and conduct a serious social media/marketing outreach to seek a degree of market fit/traction *before* building an MVP. If you can describe and market your product well enough to get customers to pre-pay/commit/express interest, you've de-risked your concept substantially and made an MVP worth building. If you *can't* do that, you run the risk of creating an MVP that's either A) wrong, or B) not able to connect to its market. And marketing is much cheaper to tweak than your product.

http://betali.st/is also a good one, you set up a landing page and they email it out to 1000's of people who might be interested in trying out new products.

Hi,
First you should talk toKaran M Gupta (he is in FounderDating somewhere) or at least see their strategy.
He made my sign in for his site and I don't even know what they do! Some of my friends sign too when I shared on Facebook. (I still don't know what they do). Nice way to create buzz.

As a service to create and host your sign in page, I have usedhttp://www.kickofflabs.com/ . I didn't try launchrock.

Pablo.

Launchrock - http://www.launchrock.co used to do this exclusively. Seems like they've pivoted to more...
