Does anyone go to groups (meetup or otherwise) to share needs and questions and contacts?

Does anyone feel it is beneficial to attend network meetings to discuss problems, ideas and needs and get yourself focused by setting accountable goals? What groups do you attend Meetup.com or ?

100% yes! You don't know what you don't know and another perspective can hold a lot of value. I think meetup is a great resource and I would also browse through eventbrite.

Stay away from chamber of commerce meet ups. You are only going to find sales people and folks looking for work.

Hey Cheyenne - great question. Here's a great previous discussion on this same topic that I thought might be helpful. Make sure to do a search before posting a question as there are often relevant discussions that have already been posted and answered on FD. You could also follow these topics so that you're notified when there are updates and/or new questions. Hope this helps!

I have found most groups that are local are as previously pointed out...mostly sales people and small business owners looking for clients. Not all, but most, at least in my experience. I have made good contacts at a few but many times it is more miss than hit.

fantastic ideas. some incubators do exactly that (e.g. YC, UpWest, Founder Institute) - some even have competitions to keep each other motivated. Gil | metadata.io

Thank you all very much for your advice, it reinforces what I pretty much thought. The Chamber is good for small local businesses, but larger groups offer more variety of connections and experience. - And thank you to Founderdating, you have created a valuable tool.
