Building a SaaS Application - Member Management and Payments

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to navigate member management and payment options for a SaaS application I'm building. Here's what I'm trying to accomplish -

1 - Allow users to register using Google credentials
2 - Sign up for a service tier, choosing 1 of 3 tiers of service
3 - Making annual or monthly payments, based on chosen tier of service

I'm currently leaning toward a WordPress-based front-end, with a custom-built plug-in for the PHP application that's being built. Options I'm leaning toward at the moment include -

S2 Member for member management
Moonclerk (with Stripe) for payment management

What I'm really trying to figure out is what and how many tools I need to manage the members, and then process payments. I'm liking Stripe for the payment gateway, Moonclerk seems to add functionality to manage the payments I need to accept. Is S2 member right for member management or are there other options I should consider?

Thanks!

Some other options for membership software:

-aMember

-Wishlist member

-DAP (http://digitalaccesspass.com)

Disclaimer that I don't have experience with any of them; I've just researched options for a project I'm working on. Each have slightly different features/functionalitybut I believe they can all be used with Wordpress. Hope that helps!

Look at Woocommerce. It's free and they have paid extensions to do exactly what you want. --

Christopher, good questions:

I own DAP and -- though the functionality is broad -- the UI is outdated and challenging. I bought it before Woocommerce was available so I can't comment on that.

I also tried s2member/free and have a virtual assistant who swears s2member/Pro does 98% of what DAP does -- with much greater ease.

Finally, I too like Stripe -- two options to consider are Braintree and GetSeconds.com. A local fellow David Busby put together this comparison:

Thanks, everyone, for all of the suggestions! I'll add a post to this thread with my decision (when I get there!) and some of the analysis I did to come to it, in the hope that it may assist others in making similar choices.

This is an awesome thread. Thanks for the tips and resources, guys.

Among the MIT startups I know, I got very strong recommendations for Stripe. We may do Moonclerk w/ Stripe so we can get up and running fast. Again, thanks.

Parul, glad you found this conversation helpful! I'd love to hear how Moonclerk w/Stripe works out for you, as that's what I'm leaning toward as well, however am probably a month out from implementing it.
