What's the best company to compile a professional investor pitch deck?

Would love to know if anybody used a company to create a professional looking investor pitch deck that didn't cost a fortune. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Lia,
Based upon my experience, I think it's very important to do the pitch deck yourself, or to at least be as involved as possible in every step of the process. Because it's your company, you are the one that knows it best, which is why the pitch deck should come straight from your vision.

The best pitch deck I've every had a part in producing was done by a designer we hired for the job (and then hired full time because of how great he was). We were involved in every step of the process, and it was great because we could have him design it exactly like we envisioned. I think that's the best way to ensure the results I can only presume you're looking for.

Hi Lia,

I have done pitch decks for my own companies, as well as for clients, and have raised millions of dollars in the startup space. I would be happy to work with you if you are looking for a consultant to help you design your pitch deck. I agree that it is important to work on the pitch deck yourself for the content and story component, but you should seek help if design, layout, copywriting and marketing are not core strengths.

As an avid reader, I have read hundreds of business books over the last 30 years. The best book I have found on this topic is Pitch Anything by Oren Klaff. I highly recommend you read it if possible.

I can also recommend several other books, such as Influence by Robert Cialdini, and Made to Stick by Chip and Dan Heath. Also, Back of the Napkin by Dan Roam and Persuasion Engineering by John LaValle and Richard Bandler.

Hey Lia,

You might want to check out pitchenvy.com for deck ideas. I found a lot of useful information there to understand what investors are looking for. I was personally involved in creating my pitch deck. I found a really useful online tool to create my pitch deck - canva.com

Hope this helps.

Pitch decks are worthless material. Investors mostly look at what the invention

is about and how big the market can be and what revenue is already in

the register as of the day you pitched to them. Investors only look for those

3 things first. They then second look at your team and other related to start ups.

So pitch decks are unnecessary wasteful piece of material and that is why most

entrepreneurs failed to get any type of funding from investors. But then, there are

many low level venture firm partners that see pitch decks as something they use

to weed out those inventors that work hard to deserve a day with them so their

portfolio is passed down to the higher level for a second round look. So, maybe

do a pitch deck just in case you might not encounter a smart angel or venture firm.

A smart angel or venture firm only look at your current revenue and market potential

for scale. Good luck!!!

Lia, One great tool to put it together yourself is Liveplan.com. I found it really helpful in making sure I had the essential information,it organized it well and has a great look to it. It helps with building graphics as well. It is a pay for use service but it can also help with the business plan.

Hi Lia,

I just read a fantastic book called, Pitch Anything, by Oren Klaff. I would suggest giving this a read as it helped refine my pitch tremendously. He shows you how to counter investors and throw them off guard while ensuring they give their fullest attention. If you like the book, he can put together a pitch deck for you as well.

Best of luck!
Steve

I'm in the Blue Startups Accelerator in Honolulu- among the 8 startups in our cohort, 3 of them worked with local Empowered Presentationshttp://www.empoweredpresentations.com/ to create their decks. Obviously the content is provided by the startup, but these 3 decks look incredible.
I opted to do my own, and I'm happy with it, but I think if you have the budget and you aren't going to pivot any time soon, I think it's a great idea.

HI Lia,

Honestly, I wouldn't hire anyone to do a pitch deck for you. The furthest I would go is to do the PD myself and have a graphic designer create a nice template or "make it look cool".
There are a few Saas companies providing good pitch deck templates.
One is literally called pitchdeck.com, the other one is called Prezi ( prezi.com). I've used Prezi for my most recent product presentation (1st half of our PD), since it's easy to use and very interactive. Neither of these cost a fortune.
Once you've done that, pitch to a few friends/mentors (that will be honest with you) and to your grandmother/father. If your grandparents get your pitch and your friends have given honest & constructive feedback, then you should be good to go.
