How to find beta testers?

Long story short, we are struggling to get uptake for our beta. We have had some, but need a dozen more.We are London based and have developed a location based social media app. How do you guys sign up beta testers without breaking the bank to do so?

Thanks.

You can contact a Tech/Game Dev school like the one I work at (TriOS College) and usually work it out with an instructor/professor to give you the time for a short presentation to an appropriate audience. Or sometimes even get them to work it into an assignment as a software testing experiment. Many love having a real in-progress app/code base to use as a trial by fire assignment for their students. They can use itas a way to teach the studentshow to do bug reports properly, testing procedures and other software industry practices. I have done this with previous start-ups in my field before. Giving everyone what they want for basically no extra cost (other than time). Bryan GriffithsSoftware EngineerInstructor of Video Game Design and Development

What's the URL? Perhaps someone with an existing social network in London could advertise it on that network?

Buy a case of Red Bull, exotic tea, or similar.
Go to a college campus park & ask a group to test it in exchange for the drink.
Ask them to use existing social media to invite others to your location, for add'l testers.
Spend 3 hours & $40. Done.

I like Ms. Austin's suggestion as well as her sassiness. I'd suggest looking into usertesting.com as well. It's not as cost effective as Ms. Austin's idea, but very valuable for $50 per beta tester.
