Depends. Bigger budgets allow for more planning, writing, testing and reshoots. $1000 for students with little experience but okay equipment to $50k for an established production company that will do what needs to be done to get your video made. -K

Our production company typically charges 100 per finished minute, which is quite affordable-www.debtdeal.wix.com/publicmotionpictures

Probably somewhere between $2,500 (you'd might need to be really organized and have everything laid out) and $15,000+. In that range you're going to get a professional that knows what they're doing, has great references, experience and talent.

I very highly recommend Ted Allen at Polar Productions (http://www.polar-productions.com). They have some examples of their work online. An important differentiator there is that while they're very affordable given the quality of the final results (your video will easily be mistaken by industry professionals for a product in the tens of thousands). Also, they bring the video work with all of the top of the line equipment... and they're very strong in adding in custom motion graphics and have all the software to handle those needs (inclusive of including your brand elements in the motion graphics). That ends up being a huge plus and a missing skill for many videographers. They will also do still individual/team photos for your website/marketing materials if you ask ahead of time.

I have no idea what your budget is but I've seen Ted work out some pretty good deals for all kinds of startups.

Ted Allen's email [removed to protect privacy]. He'd be good to at least get some more advice from.

Good luck.

Hi Kristina, I own a production company in Atlanta (25 year veteran) we produce all manner of broadcast and corporate.

I happened to have just done a blog post on your very question. http://www.biscardicreative.com/hiring-the-right-video-professional-for-your-project/

In short, it all depends on what you need and how involved the production is and whether there is any video production or it's all graphics / animation. 'd be happy to answer any questions for you. Feel free to call me or email me directly. All the contact info is on our website.

Hi Kristina,

It really depends on the scope of the project. The best thing you can do is create an overview /one-sheet of what you'd like to accomplish. If you have an idea for the script, that's cool, but not necessary as most production companies should be able to help with the script. Happy to discuss this with you further if you like.

Kristina, if you want quality, I wouldn't spend less than $5K.
At the least you will need to pay for a good idea/script, hire actors or voice over talent, do one or two days of filming, do editing, buy Music and mostly likely some text graphics. The more you spend on each of these, the better the quality will be. But the most important thing is having a great idea.
On the other hand, if you want the best quality out there, then Sandwich Video is the style you are looking for. Their stuff is the definition of hip and cool. However, their videos start at $100k and not to mention they are usually booked for 6 month in advance.

So what I suggest is checking out their videos and perhaps pick what you think is close to what you are looking for and find someone who can do something similar on the cheap. I would say if you spend $10K, you can get something decent.

Good luck with it,

How many locations do you anticipate shooting?
How many people will be on-camera?
Will we want to hire actors?
A hair and make-up artist?
Kraft services (food for the crew)?
Is there travel/ lodging/transportation.
Aerial footage needs?
Do we want added production value with jib arms or camera cranes and gimbles or steady cam moves that help draw viewers into the video.
Do we need a music composer or managed licensedmusic or just un-customized royalty free music? Will we want a voice over talent? And if so, what quality of talent is desired?

So in essence a high quality video can range anywhere between $6k - $106k! Also, consider how you will get the video out there in the world for people to see it. We can also place video ads and optimize the video for YouTube, Facebook, we can buy air time for television spots, embed the video for your website, author a DVD or place it on a jump drive or on a video card or a computer screen, movie theater ads to play prior to a movie...
Lots of options that can really determine all the costs involved!
If you would like to talk more we can help!
Thanks,
Rhea Allen

The question is a little tough to answer without more details about the vision. I've been a filmmaker for 15 years, and would be happy to offer my knowledge for free if you'd care to have a chat about your requirements. Our team is located in LA and NYC.
