Best call-to-action via email when asking for company feedback?

I am curious as to how others approach potential users/customers via email. Examples include asking customers for feedback on a prototype of a product or beta version of a website.

Keep a questionnaire short and easy to fill out. Ask a few specific questions and leave some space for comments. If you can offer a small reward for filling it out, it helps. People will respond well to positive, upbeat and confident emails that suggest their feedback will be utilized. I like contributing to small projects and if you can let them know their feedback affected the system.

Numbers are useful (such as a likert scale), but if you have the resources to wade through some anecdotal/qualitative data - get it.

I like google forms.

Great tips Bridger! Now I wonder if embedding the questionnaire in the email itself without forcing the recipient to open an attachment or click on a link is easier for them?

If so, are there questionnaire tools that are able to do achieve this?

I know you can with Google forms. Also check out mail chimp and survey monkey.

Nice! Thanks for pointing these out. I use mailchimp now for emails to users, but I will look into using it for a questionnaire.
