What's the best way yo find an industrial designer to design a smart toy for kids?

We are looking for an industrial designer with a toy design background, needed to design a smart toy for toddlers. What's the best way to find a person with this background? Any recommendations?

Assuming limited means, you can try: Submit your idea to Quirky and they do everything. Find a talented design student via a focused program like Cooper Unions Invention Factory. Crowd-source a quote on crowdspring or 99designs. Assuming a competitive budget to hire someone troll LinkedIn for people who work at companies whose design you like and peruse their portfolios.

I recommend contacting schools for it, so that they can disseminate it to their network. Art Center in Pasadena and RISD in RI are the two biggest names in the US. You can also contact an acquaintance of mine, Kane Yanagawa. He has the experience and skills to do this. Let me know if you want his contact info

There are several people in the bay area with that experience and some design companies like IDEO have specialities in toys, but they won't be inexpensive. Let me know if you'd like an intro to a local designer.

I suggest contacting some schools/universities with reputable industrial design programs. If short on $$ you might find some talented grad students who can contribute, a professor who might consider your project for course content, or at the very least can provide referrals to their alum networks.
