How to acquire and grow users for a new online service?

Our startup fteebee.com has gone live few months ago. It targets consumers of financial services products, in the very first step people consuming insurance products. Our idea would be to create a community where users would rate insurance companies and/or intermediaries, what will allow everyone to get an idea of the insurance company and/or intermediary when subscribing a new insurance.

The platform needs to be developed further and need to be marketed to the public. We will need to raise money for funding, but we need first to get a sensitive number of users who rate companies. We have used our personal networks, but also social medias and have built up a first community of users but this is not enough yet. The next step will be to approach insurance brokers: they should ask their clients to rate them; we will then offer advertisement space.

Any other idea to grow the number of users?

I don't understand your value proposition at all. If someone told me that there was the world's most awesome site where I could rate my insurance company I'd give them a funny look and go on with my day. I visited the site, poked around for a few minutes and still don't know WIIFM.

Until the value proposition is clear, you've got an uphill battle building awareness.

You may be more familiar with the medium as reddit. My recommendation is to find the appropriate subreddit and share it there, vis a vis on a random subreddit.

I can recommend mixergy as a great resource. They have premium courses for 200$ a year on how to build traction. I've found more value there than anywhere else online by far.

You may also want to look at AVVA and read up on Rich Barton online. He's sort of the master of what you're trying to do.
