My TED talk on entrepreneurial rejections

Back in November, I was turned down with an investment opportunity. Serendipitously, an email chain on rejection in the startup world started here at FounderDating. It inspired me to search online and found rejection therapy (rejectiontherapy.com), and I started a blog (www.entresting.com) doing this.

I could have never imagined that three months later, it became this big, with media coverages on Yahoo, Businessweek, Huffington Post and Jeff Probst Show.

On 2/9, I gave a TED talk at TEDxAustin about my story: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFWyseydTkQ

I just want to say that as entrepreneurs, we face more rejections than anyone else. However, I've learned that if we keep a good attitude, we can turn rejection into something positive, if not miraculous.

this is why i think it's important to have an experienced sales veteran on a startup team early. not only do they have experience working with customers and bringing in revenue, but they are veterans of rejection.

Agreed as someone who is an entrepreneur and sold consulting services for 22 years you get used to rejection and rejection does not stop you. You learn a lot from rejection and often the rejection has nothing to do with you!

Good for you! That's so true. We have thick skins and perpetually positive attitudes. It's all in the battlefield of the mind. Monica Zent

Awesome! I think we need a website to share not just our rejection stories but the business lessons we learned along the way. I ran a company for six months only to discover I was repeating the same mistakes of a startup that had preceded me and failed. Had I known sooner, I would have done things differently.

Hey Jia - I saw your talk live in Austin (I was at TEDxAustin). Great job!

In the spirit of rejection - let's have lunch next week. Are you free on Weds 2/27 or Thurs 2/28 for lunch?
