Do we need a private social network for the people who support you emotionally- 12max?

These are the relationships that are key factors in your quality of life. These are the people that care about you, your kids and are the only ones that care about the pics & videos you post on social media. The avg friends on Facebook is over 150... do you really think they care? Also... When you get busy, these are the people you neglect.

Path (Dave Morin) was built on this exact premise and initially started with 50 and then increased to 150 based on Dunbar's number.

You right that's how Path Started... they morphed into a photo sharing service... and have pivoted...
How many people i n your life support you emotionally... I'll bet it's lest that the 12 maximum...

I don't care who you are, 50 people do not really care about your well being...
This is PRIVATE... I'm looking to fill the whole in the exact center of social media... it should complement what you're already doing...
It will add what you're sharing (only with those people) without you doing anything... if you're sharing on MyCore.me it will post on any other social media you want... This is the tip of the iceberg in terms of benefits & features

Hi Robert, Great idea! Many will be surprised how few "friends" will be left when one really needs (emotional) support. Often, only people will assist when they themselves have gone through rough patches in life ... and have hopefully increased their empathy for the tragic tales of others.
But it will be difficult to convince people to use a new system when it is possible to create a private Facebook group that could basically do the same. What do you think?

Hartmut... Thanx so much for the stats... Oh, I'm looking for technical cofounder for MyCore and android and ios developer for bootstrapped niche app... if you know of either in the bay area... it will be appreciated big time! here's what CEO at Facebook said today (demonstrating why a clear focus our few key relationships is important)... Facebook, Pulse, etc are great... but are to broad to be really personally meaningful and the avg person is not going to use FB tools to narrow the focus... for us in tech it's a no brainer... but there aren't that many of us... Today at his first public Q&A , Mark Zuckerberg boldly responded to some of the top gripes and questions about his company. Here's a look at the top questions and a summary of the Facebook CEO's answers. *Why is organic Page reach decreasing?* The percentage of their fans that Pages reach with each of their News Feed posts is decreasing because of two facts. One, people are sharing more content per day, adding more friends who share more content, and subscribing to more Pages that...share more content. *There's on average around 1,500 posts eligible to be shown in each person's News Feed each day. *Two, people only spend a limited time looking at News Feed per day. Facebook only shows around 100 posts per day. Zuckerberg says "No person will look at everything." With more content to be shown but roughly the same amount of time spent consuming it, there's more competition for each slot. That means each source of the content naturally reaches a smaller percentage of the people it could be shown to. Zuckerberg empathized with businesses trying to reach their customers, but explained that people would probably rather see a post about their friend's baby being born and it being healthy than some post from a Page. He says when there's a conflict between the interest of Facebook's News Feed-reading end users and business, "we optimize for the readers." His advice to Pages is to "focus on sharing great content," which Facebook will recognize more people will want to see and it will show it to them. I'm open to all options... Any thoughts will help thanx again
