Awesome morning rituals for entrepreneurs?

I'm doing a personal development project to optimize my morning ritual to maximize health and energy, while increase productivity for the rest of the day. What are some of the things that work for you as a busy entrepreneur? How do you start your morning?

I wrote a blog to share what's working for me here

I use simpleology.com to help me stay focused on the immediate, aware of the big picture, and sort through all of those low-impact tasks.

I've practiced Zazen and Dzogchen meditation since the '70's. A simple practice like that settles the mind. My practice has basically distilled down to watching the space between thoughts, with special attention to the point exactly where the thought starts. Even as little as 15 minutes is enough to clear out most of the chatter. Then I'm clearer for the important stuff of the day.

There are lots of rituals that will help the body: yoga, running, tai chi, swimming. I don't do enough of that myself.

Every week I list the top 3 priorities I need to focus on. It's important to be strict about 3 and now I have my team do the same and we announce them in team meeting. That way as the week goes on and they are 100 things happening we can ask ourselves - is this in the top 3?

My ideal morning starts with a walk with my dog, followed by yoga/meditation, then a healthy breakfast. All before I start the work day by 8. (I can't say that I always succeed in this every morning, although I include the healthy breakfast without fail.) The advantage of the meditational yoga is a bit opposite from your blog post: The goal is to clear your mind of any issues; By so doing I find the solutions needed that day automatically appear when needed. Your emotional status is also reset to better deal with the day's challenges. I am sure many readers have found they come up with their most insightful solutions during the morning shower. I also get good insight during the morning walk with the dog - and it is better with just the dog, if my husband or a friend join that free-thinking time is gone. -Nancy

Wake up, tough not to think about work but I limit myself to getting three things done that day. Of course other things get done but I list three tasks. Keep it to three, no more. And I make sure I break for lunch and get up from the desk. And workouts! Runs! Anything! I find that working out burns off hyped up energy generated from the excitement/stress of startup life. So its actually relaxing and lets me focus while keeping my energy up to work long hours.
