What's the best email alternative to Constant Contact, MailChimp?

X
I've been using Constant Contact & MailChimp for a number of marketing campaigns....what alternatives are you using? (that may have better open rates, lower cost, etc.)

If you're under 30K emails/month, Mailjet is an awesome deal.

Looks like it's a Paris France operation...easy to import/export lists? Thinking about using it for a list of 10k subscribers, but one thing I immediately don't like is the pricing is for emails sent, not the size of the list.

Well, actually, truth be told I had an absolute crap experience with them. I use SendGrid for transactional email, MailChimp for customer emails and Mailjet for stuff I don't care so much about (e.g., high bounce rate emails).

Yeah, I just tried their live chat, and found it fairly unresponsive and unhelpful. Will check out SendGrid.

Mainly looking for alternatives for one constant contact list of 10k email subscribers, something that offers a better open rate at a lower cost

Forgive me, but why would an alternative solution have a better open rate? These services deliver mail. People open the mail. They are all whitelisted by major network providers. Is there something I'm missing here, because it should be the other way around. What industry are you in and what are the open rates in your industry? What email marketing tactics are you employing? Why is it the service, when it could be your email campaigns that need better adjustments. Here's something from MailChimp you might be interested in: http://mailchimp.com/resources/research/email-marketing-benchmarks/ Open rates by industry.

Thanks for weighing in Anthony, I understand the whitelisting, and that most platforms should be equal in that area, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something that's out there getting better open rates, or breaking through the spam trap. I'm also aware of the tactics, and industry standards..again probing for better solutions in case I've missed them--for years I've used MC & CC, only exploring others here and there and not seeing better value.

@steve, Mandrill is actually made by Mailchimp. Basically leverages their infrastructure to provide app-powered email (i.e. event-driven emails). I'm a big fan of MC full disclosure.

As an aside, my team is working on ways to help you automate segmentation of your lists so you can send increasingly targeted emails to customers and potential customers. Hidden at present in product but happy to chat about that too if interesting to you @Jonathan.

@Ron, I actually didn't know that. We use Mandrill in a variety of our solutions. Great platform! At this second we don't have a need automation as most communications are event driven (as you pointed out). But I'll definitely keep you in mind. We come across clients with various needs all the time!
