WordPress and WooCommerce as an eCommerce Solution

A close friend of mine asked for my help updating his existing eCommerce site (www.EssentialOilsNow.com ) from Wix.com's platform to a new eCommerce platform because Wix does not allow conversion tracking for Google Analytics.

Does anyone have any experience or advice on using WordPress as the platform and WooCommerce for the shopping cart plugin? Pros / Cons?

Thanks in advance!

Actually don't go with anyone until we determine how many products he has. I know every store platform backwards and his decision should be based on the admin capabilities of the platform as well as the 'build a store in 7 miliseconds' approach. Which brings us back to how many products =)

I have extensive experience with woocommerce and have built multiple sites using it. *Dan Schiffman* [removed to protect privacy]

I've developed quite a few WP/woo ecommerce site at its great. Well supported and with a large installed base. I say for it. Woo is very helpful and there a lot of plugins and themes to choose from.

Joshua - My company does this type of integration for people. I would be happy to speak to you about this. Let me know when a good time to speak is and we can go over these items. Thanks

Wordpress as a platform is superior to Wix given how flexible it is to customize and organize your content. So long as you have someone moderately technically-savvy with HTML/CSS/PHP to understand how to integrate your plugins seamlessly.

with that many products I would look into something more of a magento or zencart solution. I am much more of a magento fan however than a zencart fan

Okay so your friend needs a decent bulk loader. Shopify falls down there unfortunately. They'll admit it too. My advice would be BigCommerce. Bulk uploading is easy, only real difference with Shopify. Woocommerce.. It's a plugin for Wordpress. If your friend is serious about his store, build it on a dedicated store platform that has all the tools out the box, not plugins that will potentially update and fail etc. I love WP but not for ecommerce, Magento Go is another possibility (not Magento). But I'd go with BogCommerce for this for ease so he can focus on service and growth not store build and maintenance. Drop me a line if you need help. Sent from my iPhone

To expand on Magento, don't touch it unless you're very technical. Magento Go would be okay though. Sent from my iPhone
